Debt $31 trillion current liability DEFERRED as current ceiling to January 2025 for unfunded US total debt $96 trillion, plus $188 trillion to finance Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, entitlements, accrued interest, pensions.
Congress passed an open-ended debt limit to the above amount, that has to be financed to pay those obligations. The debt limit is the total obligations, amount of money that the USA is authorized to borrow to meet its existing legal obligations, including social security and Medicare benefits, interest on the national debt, tax refunds, and other payments. The debt limit does not authorize new spending commitments. It simply allows the government to finance existing legal obligations that Congresses and presidents of both parties have made in the past.
In other words, there is no debt ceiling. An obvious not dealing with the lack of cash flow from USA trade deficits and $7 trillion owed to foreign countries in US Treasuries, that is growing at the rate of $1 trillion per year. Insanity is extended by extending Congress to incur debt it cannot even service. Pushing the problem off until our competitors stop taking American paper as an insolvent credit risk. Americans need to know that this decision and action destroys America's credibility in the international banking requirements that will result in China, Japan, Asian competitors to raise the interest rates on existing debt instruments, or deny accepting American debt instruments as an unacceptable risk. And American hedge funders and stock markets jumping ship and filing dissolution of American gold reserves to pay down current debt
to an acceptable level.
