Philip Chism committed a gruesome crime at just 14 years old and would go on to reoffend following his detainment during his trial. His defense led with a psychotic break being reason for “snapping”, had it not been for surveillance cameras installed at the school in addition to the chilling clues left behind, he may have gotten an easier sentence due to mental illness.
