Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, and Emma Stone star in this period piece based off the novel of the same name written by Kathryn Stockett. To celebrate black history month the boys decided to watch a film depicting the racism that the maid service of the southern Chickasaw county of Mississippi faced in the midst of the civil rights era. Tasked with writing a novel on accounts of the maids horrible and cruel white housewives, Emma Stones character, Skeeter, is pushed to the brink of discovering the hardships faced with people of color, and vows to expose this behavior to the masses. Octavia Spencer delivers an Academy award winning performance for the ages, and Viola Davis brings a stunning performance herself. This was a special one for the podcast.
