Gary was born in 1960 in Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire, England. He served in the Royal Air Force Police (1983-1989) before spending nearly 24 years with the British Transport Police (1989-2013), where he was a detective for 19 years. In January 2002, while still serving as a police officer, he founded PRUFOS (Police UFO Sightings Database), an unofficial national website dedicated to police officers in the UK and Ireland who report UFO sightings. Released in January 2002. Meets the cops on and tuned.
After the sudden death of UFO Magazine editor Graham Birdsall in September 2003, Gary launched his own online e-zine called UFO Monthly which ran for 41 issues from 2004-2007. He then spent 12 months as co-editor of UFO Data Magazine (2008).
In 2010, he was presented with the PRG World Disclosure Award in Washington DC by Steve Bassett. In 2012, he received the Exopolitics Great Britain award. In April 2013, he testified on behalf of law enforcement officers around the world about his UFO experiences at Citizen Hearings at the National Press Club in Washington DC. He is also one of the principal investigators in the Rendleham Forest incident, Britain's most famous UFO sighting.
Gary is the lead researcher and co-author of a leading independent feature-length documentary called Capel Green, which is in production in the UK and US.
Based on his police experience, Gary examined how best UFO experiences around the world and confirmed, based on trials on evidence of UFO involvement, that some extraterrestrials with planet Earth involvement. As a result of this, he retired early from the police in 2013 to create and launch an electronic UFO Truth Magazine.
