In this episode, we welcomed Kaytlin Eldred(keldred@bu.edu), a lecturer at Sargent College, Boston University. As she started a new class on cultural competency, she introduced the concept and why being culturally humble is vital.
What is cultural competence?
Being aware of and comfortable with the intersection of your culture and others by actively and genuinely asking, observing, and listening with humility, knowing that it doesn't take complete understanding to respect someone else's culture, but still being open to learning and engaging.
