They currently live in the Indianapolis, IN area and have hosted the young adults serving as interns & 1yr fellows with Shepherd Community Center once a month over the past couple years for a meal in their home. They have done this in various cultural settings over the years. Shepherd seeks to ensure the young adults serving with them understand the ethos of a missional mindset for the uniqueness of the neighbors they journey alongside (paraclete).
Wanna know a secret sauce of young adult ministry?
Start with a "grand-parent-type" couple who love investing relationally in college students and 20 somethings. Throw in some lovingly prepared food. Allow to simmer for a couple hours. Stir gently with guided conversation. Sprinkle in some missionary stories and discerning God's call. Repeat monthly. Each batch will be different and have its own zing. But you'll want to serve it again;)
