Discussion Questions
Luke 7:36-50
- Two people make an effort to be around Jesus in Luke 7:36-37. One wants to know about him, while the other wants to know him in worship, humility, devotion, gratitude and service. Which of these two better describe the way you feel around Jesus? Why?
- When you look at people, do you see more of their past or what God is doing now and can make of them in the future?
- Do you believe that God also wants to forgive YOUR debt? Have you been forgiven little or much? How have you responded to that forgiveness?
- Do you remember when you first understood that God loves you just as you are? When was that? What happened? How did you respond?
- How have you seen God’s forgiveness produce transformation in people (or yourself)?
- Does your idea of righteousness move you away from people (separate from sin) or does it move you toward people (offering forgiveness and peace)? Why?
- What are some ways we can welcome and provide community for those who are ashamed of their past, or who do not have any encouragement to move forward from their past?
