Description

Geoffrey Cobb’s most recent book “The Rise and Fall of the Sugar King” tells the story of Brooklyn’s industrial magnate (robber baron), Henry Havemeyer, one of the richest and most powerful men in America. It is a tale of greed, crime, wealth, power and corruption, but it is also the story of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Based on fifteen years of historical research, it recounts the lives of a half dozen Williamsburg residents from 1844 to 1909.
