Queen Victoria ruled in a time of prosperity when the British Empire reached almost a quarter of the world. Becoming a Queen at the age of 18, she was the first monarch to make Buckingham Palace the official residence of the monarch. Few years after that she got married to Albert of Saxe-Coburg Gotha. He and the Queen had 9 children and 42 grandchildren. Most of them got married in different countries- Spain, Russia, Germany, Romania, Greece, Norway, and more. This "gave" Queen Victoria the title "Grandmother of Europe". Albert died about 20 years after he got married which devastated the Queen. She wore black clothes till the rest of her reign which in total was 63 years and 7 months, also known as the Victorian Era. That was the longest a monarch has ruled in Britain and she kept that record until Queen Elizabeth II broke it in 2015.
