Description

We often talk about the good old days, but for most of the past 200 years, chinuch was only a fraction of what it is today. Dr. Henry Abramson shares with us the sad history of the early 19th century in Russia when Jewish children were either conscripted into the Russian Army at a young age for 25 years, or were sent to a government school where they had no Jewish education at all.

Today's chinuch system is far more superior than it ever was previously. Today's era requires us to shift our approach to how we teach.

Dr. Henry Abramson is a dean at Lander College, a noted Jewish historian, and the host of Jewish History in Daf Yomi, available on the All Daf app.
