When an injury happens, most patients don’t know where to go or what to do. It is commonplace for your first stop after an injury to be at the doctors office resulting in an x-ray followed up by an MRI. From an orthopedic injury standpoint, these tests prove to be costly for patients and don’t provide any interventions to actually alleviate the problem at hand. In this podcast episode we discuss the definition of an MRI, when an MRI may be most useful, when most patients are ACTUALLY getting MRIs, common findings seen on MRIs that may surprise you, and whether or not the information provided by these images is useful for for us a physical therapists when treating orthopedic conditions.
