Psalm 12
To the choirmaster: according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
1 Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone;
for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.
2 Everyone utters lies to his neighbor;
with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
3 May the LORD cut off all flattering
lips, the tongue that makes great boasts,
4 those who say, "With our tongue we will
prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?"
5 "Because the poor are plundered,
because the needy groan, I will now arise," says the LORD; "I
will place him in the safety for which he longs."
6 The words of the LORD are pure words, like
silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.
7 You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard
us from this generation forever.
8 On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness
is exalted among the children of man.
1. THE GODLY CRY OUT TO GOD.
1 Kings 19:10
He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the
people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and
killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek
my life, to take it away.
1 Kings 19:18
Yet I will leave seven thousand
in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has
not kissed him.
2. THE WICKED SPEAK TO ONE ANOTHER.
Psalm 1:5
Therefore the wicked will not
stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous
3. YAHWEH SPEAKS.
4. TRUST IN THE PURITY OF YAHWEH’S WORDS.
Psalm 7:14
Behold, the wicked man conceives
evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies.
2 Corinthians 4:17,18
17. For this light momentary
affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all
comparison,
18. as we look not to the things
that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen
are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Romans 8:18
For I consider that the
sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
