On the heels of outlining the way of the world, Paul again challenges Timothy to live a life set apart. Timothy had learned the scriptures from an early age and had witnessed great things doing ministry with Paul. He knew the way of the cross is one marked by suffering and future glory, but needed to be encouraged to endure. This week we recognize that the Word of God is the firm foundation we need to stand on in a world hostile to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
