Description

On this week's episode of Onward Thinking we dig into whole-food, plant-based eating! We all know they're good for us. But what are some of those benefits? And how can we add more of them to our lives?

Massive thanks to our special guest Lauren Johnson who is highly qualified on this topic. She graduated with a degree in Public Health with a minor in Chemistry, which was a change from her pre-med intentions after she realized she wanted to help people be proactive with their health rather than reactive. She is also a licensed Food for Life Instructor, a soon to be Rouxbe Professional Plant-Based Chef, and a future holder of the T. Colin Campbell Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate. In her free time she can be found reading cookbooks, doing research, and cooking in her kitchen.

Bonus Quote:

“Only one way of eating has ever been proven to reverse heart disease in the majority of patients: a diet centered around whole plant foods. If that’s all a whole-food, plant-based diet could do—reverse our number-one killer—shouldn’t that be the default diet until proven otherwise? The fact it may also be effective in preventing, treating, and arresting other leading killers [type 2 diabetes, cancer, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, high blood pressure, etc.] seems to make the case for plant-based eating simply overwhelming.” (Dr. Michael Greger, NutritionFacts.org)
