Crimes of the future is the latest film by David Cronenberg and the latest collaboration between him and Viggo Mortensen. The result is a film that can be categorized as a new Noir mystery. With elements of Cronenberg signature body horror and science-fiction. Many of the scenes of this movie are a sight to behold. However many of the scenes may be a little hard for those who are squeamish. The plot navigates through a story about humanity and how it's changing based on the way we have treated the environment. Viggo Mortensen does deliver a great performance and so does many of the actors. Cronenberg has always been a very good actros director. Being able to pull out very good performances for almost all of his actors.
The end result here I do believe falls flat because the plot is convoluted and a little difficult to really understand. For those of us who've seen Cronenberg films and know what to expect it is a little more clear. I do feel that there is another cut of this film that is far more clear with its trying to say. And it's message is too underneath the surface to clearly understand on First Watch. I give Crimes of the Future if 5.5 out of 10
