Adam was not created Good. People ask why do men sin? Men sin because perfection is not a gift, it is something we must aspire to. Men must work to be good. Our value is intimately tied up with the value we create. The idea we are saved because we are intrinsically worthy to be saved, or that we can be saved simply by a profession of faith, is erroneous. We are unable to have faith when we are not good. Evil people cannot be saved regardless of if they know Jesus or not. They cannot be saved by anything other than by being perfected by faith but in and as part of the church. A baptism and profession of faith is a work that does not turn us into part of the church. This is what is crucial. We need to mature into an integral element of the church.
