The church is a community but for the spiritually mature. The immature are those of the world. People grow physically and achieve physical maturity, but they do not always grow spiritually nor achieve spiritual maturity. The world is a place where the immature live. It is a place of the flesh. The immature only understand the desires of the flesh. It takes maturity to realize there is more to life than the passions. 1 Corinthians 13:11 tells us as adults we must put aside the childish things. If we do this systematically and thoroughly, we create a community for the spiritually mature.
