Technically everyone agrees there ought to be a meritocracy but since there is not, we do with the next best thing, which might be communism, socialism or capitalism though there are also other options. But no one pretends these are real meritocracies that reward solely on merit. Which naturally leads to the question if a meritocracy is even possible and if it is, what would it look like. We say it looks like the church which leads us to suppose a church is actually a meritocracy not the school or club it has become. So, what reforms need to be implemented and what impact has this on the second best choices we are using at present?
