Merit is not what we think it is and
it does not measure what we think it measures. That being said, there are two
versions of it, linked to the culture of lies and the culture of truth. The lie
is that merit is determined by the state of its agencies. The state is a rogue institution
with no legitimacy. How can the state or any of its agencies establish the
merit of any person or doctrine? Indeed, the probability is that anything that
had true merit would be denigrated and opposed by the state. There is then a
true form of meritocracy that determines true merit. This is what this essay is
about, and it is what the Meritocratic Party addresses. To have a meritocracy
we need to have merit determined by something with a lot more credibility than
the godless liberal state.
