Mankind must believe in the saving grace of Christ to be saved. If we question this, we sound like Satan asking Eve if God really said you cannot eat of the fruit of the Garden. But there remains a nagging realization this cannot be a reliable quote. But we grasp the phrase as it appears to be the only way to give God the glory. We cannot earn salvation so it must be through grace. What then can we say other than, words matter. Adam and Eve did not die after they ate of the fruit of the Forbidden tree, but they did die. The issue concerns what did God mean and what did Satan mean, when they used the term, die? What are we thinking when we hear we are saved by faith alone, and not by works, and more importantly, when we hear these words, do we hear the word faith in the way defined by God, or by Satan.
