The world is not a scary place without reason--life on this earth can be full of pain and loss. In the midst of the cruelty of the world, we need a firm foundation to put our trust in, and for David (the author of this Psalm), for all Christians, and for you today, God is a comfort in the wake of evil because he is an unshakable fortress.
