Description

Niles Schore is a longtime staffer for several of Pennsylvania's state senators, former staff of the PA Department of Public Welfare under Mayor Ed Rendell. Starting out as an attorney for various public interest legal services agencies in the 1970s, Niles was 'go-to' attorney for human service advocates who needed statewide legislation or regulations. Truly one of the unsung heroes of Pennsylvania human services movement. He worked on issues ranging from boarding homes, welfare, nursing homes, health care, and workforce development. Now retired, he has stories to tell 'out the wazoo,' as he says frequently. Insightful, funny, poignant, Niles shares inside stories relating to the late great Senator Roxanne Jones, Senate Republicans, Senator Vincent Fumo, and other illustrious politicians. Most interesting, Niles asserts that Pennsylvania was once a leading progressive state for the nation, and in the 90s the transition began from moderate and reasonable Republican leadership to the inflaming, non-compromising leadership of today.
