Mike, Nate & Jessica talk about the 1956 version of the film "The Ten Commandments" featuring Charlton Heston as Moses and produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille. (But not the 1923 version of the film "The Ten Commandments" directed by Cecil B. DeMille, but staring Theodore Roberts as Moses.)
They talk about: Anthony of Petoskey's unauthorized visit to the set, Lenten veiling of statues, Spartacus, Solent Green, the fact that DeMille made "The Ten Commandments" 2 times, how it is an Easter/Passover classic on free/network TV, how it is very long of a film, the theology of the film, how people conflate the film with the Bible, picture Bibles, Charlton Heston's acting abilities, subplots that aren't in the scriptures, when the film came out relating to important events in Jewish history, new heresy just dropped - Moses was a pelican, Moses knew he was an Hebrew, movie tropes, novels that the film was also based on (Prince of Egypt by Dorothy Clarke Wilson, Pillar of Fire by J. H. Ingraham, On Eagle's Wings by A. E. Southon), bad 1970's-1980's hymns, the name Jethro, extreme freeze tag & the Angel of Death, the end of the world, special effects before computers, the death of the 1st born vs. the golden calf, movie explosions, Michael Bay's The 10 Commandments (what would it look like), the book of Judith, , side plots not in the film but that would be fun, the natural form of gold- a cow, the Passover, Dante, is a gyro a Passover meal?, 7 layer dips, & Mike's biggest problem with the film- that it is not about the 10 commandments; but the 10 plagues.
Also Mike wants you to read your Bible.
