Description

Dr. Seanna Leath, assistant professor at the University of Virginia Psychology Department states, "Black women are often described as Superwomen." Join us as we discuss her article, How the Expectation of Strength Harms Black Girls and Women, and why some Black women struggle with expectations and responsibilities that lead them to neglect their own health and wellbeing. Dr. Seanna deconstructs the concept of the "strong black woman" and leaves us with alternative ways to view our strength, the practice of self-care and the holistic development of Black girls and women.
