I've been recording Reb Nachman's transcendent and entertaining Jewish fairytales, and OY, is this one ever (it is:) a Jewish fairytale!!
I started out on this one intending just to discuss an excerpt which shows the sheer WEIRDNESS of Nachman's world, but ended up recording a new record length of 3 hours 13 minutes of audiobooking. Feels good to do, and at the same time satisfying personally (cuz of my study on these stories, and takeaways in my own magical-realist fiction), and because I hope that listeners will be enlightened and amused by the marvelous mind of Reb Nachman.
Reb Nachman of Breslov was a Jewish scholar from the 18th century whose fairy-tale-like Tales are breathtakingly complex beneath what seem like simply cheerful fairy-tale conventions.
