Description

Eire Óg and Cork native, Ciarán Sheehan, joins me for Episode Four of Conversation Matters. Call me slightly bias, but this is an exceptional conversation packed with value and advise and a very strong and fluent theme of the importance of having a reliable and approachable support system around you, throughout. Ciarán won a Senior Football All Ireland medal with Cork in 2010 and went on to sign a professional contract with Carlton Football Club, playing Australian Rules Football in Melbourne. A gentleman personified and a class-act, on-and-off the pitch, Ciarán's story is a fascinating one and to his credit he also spoke openly and honestly to me, in depth, about the following:

- Balancing sport demands and education at University

- The physical vs metal battle surrounding injury

- Live in Melbourne, Australia

- Adapting to life as a professional sportsman in AUS

- Returning home after 6 years - The re-action in Cork - The mental battle that can occur in this instance for a player who "didn't make it"

- Current employment and future plans
