Welcome Back to Nuanced Beauty!

At the heels of a church service we recently attended called "Pause." and the announcement that Aaron Rogers just completed a 4-day darkness retreat in a cave in OR, the topic of meditation has been on both of our minds.

We explore the tension of meditation in Non-Denomination/Protestant Christian circles because of religions like Hindu/Buddhist/New-Age Spirituality that practice meditation through a different perspective or with a different priority in mind. But we can see many examples throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible that share people being called to meditate on the Lord and renew the mind. We share an appreciation for how Catholicism has perhaps been more in tune with spiritual disciplines, including meditation. Then there's even a component of meditation for physical health improvements like getting to sleep and lessening anxiety and helping lower blood pressure. Ultimately, we want to acknowledge the worldview/core beliefs/values, and what exactly is the point of meditating can look very different to different people. We think there's a component of awareness to the mind, body, and soul, and the practice of being present through meditation can be very valuable for many reasons.
