Welcome Back to Nuanced Beauty!
As we prepare for a new year, we all often take time to reflect on what was behind us, and set goals for what is ahead. Whether you avoid setting New Years Resolutions or rhythmically embrace them, it's noteworthy to consider how many people join a gym in January, often with the hopes of losing some weight.
When was the last time you weighed yourself? What has been your relationship to the scale?
I share my stories, from HS cheerleading, to getting into college at the US Merchant Marine Academy and needing to meet physical fitness standards, to post college needing to make fitness standards for the Navy Reserve. I then share my more recent events of having children and all of life's priorities.
I've had moments of totally obsessing and totally neglecting the scale, so how do we use the scale responsibly? I share my recent perspective shift and approach to try and get comfortable with the long term process and the reality that the number on the scale does not have to create my value and identity.
I'm going to lean in to enjoying the journey here and try to find that nuanced beauty we are talking about here.
