Description

Dr. Mark E. Shaw interviews Pastor Gregory Kirk, Executive Director of the New Life Discipleship Program at the United Gospel Rescue Mission in Poplar Bluff, MO, which is one of The Addiction Connection's recommended residential addiction programs.

The COVID-19 virus is especially challenging to rescue missions like this one. Pastor Greg shares what is being done to continue to creatively serve the people of Poplar Bluff at this time. Psalm 1 is the basis of the discipleship program and the theme is, "Jesus Saves!" and the focus is for men to "Be intentional," a directive derived from Ephesians 4:17. Pastor Greg's many skills allow him to wear many hats at the Rescue Mission. He describes the structure of the program that serves so many homeless who are struggling with addiction. Pastor Greg closes by sharing how he stays positive in such a tough ministry and what keeps him going is knowing the stories of redemption from some of those whom he has served over the years.
