Description

My guest this week is Gina Dermody - Director of Adolessence, a beyond Psychotherapy clinic that specialises in support adolescents and families. As a child, Adolescent & Family Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor, Gina leads a team of three therapists who provide therapy to adolescents, parents, adults and couples. Established in 2011,the clinic is located in Tuam, Co. Galway, and serves the local community, surrounding schools, the greater Connacht region, and offers online services to clients in other areas.

In this episode Gina talks about what anxiety is and how it may show up in our children's lives and what we can do about it as parents. Anxiety is something to be understood.

The development of the adolescent's brain and the changes in their behaviours that parents can understand what is normal and what is temporary.

The impact of social media on our young people and how as parents we need to be the gatekeepers of their safety by keeping the lines of communication open.
