As the next generation grows, tragedies and dangers of the past that loomed over their youth fade and the lessons learned get lost with time. Do we have cultural amnesia? Or do we deliberately forget things that cause us to cling to values that may be inconvenient — like believing in a God to whom we must answer, instead of just doing what we want?
