Description

He was the foundation on which Jesus said He would build His church. Yet he denied Christ 3 times. He was the leader of the Disciples after Jesus was with them no longer, yet he led them fishing, back to who they were before Jesus found them. Even though Peter failed to be the shining example of what we would think Christ's appointed leader would look like, he held a quality that Jesus knew would be necessary for success in his mission. On the bank of the lake, after Peter and the disciples fished all night, Jesus invites them once again to join him. For the other disciples it was a breakfast invitation, for Peter, it was an invitation to restoration. Three times Christ gave Peter the charge, "Feed my sheep." Each time Peter knew what Christ was really saying, "Though your heart may doubt, though fear may be present, even though you know your own failures and darkest demons, I know you. I know who you are now, and I know who you are going to be. Trust me, give me what you have, if you have any love for me at all, no matter how frail, trust me with it, and I will make your life into something you could never imagine. Follow me."
