David Francis was born in Trinidad and Tobago, and emigrated to the US at 6. He began taking snapshots around 8 years of age, partly to keep himself occupied, but mostly because He couldn't draw very well (unlike his older brother), and he desperately needed a creative outlet for his energies. He has always been attracted to color, form and different cultures, and excitedly perused the LIFE, TIME, and National Geographic magazines that his father collected in the bookcases around his small Brooklyn, NY apartment. His photographic eye was developed by looking at the thousands of images contained in those magazines.
As he grew up he combined his love of photography and love of travel to document his journeys, and share his experiences with friends and family via the photos that he brought back. The sheer excitement of getting the film developed, and the surprise of what was captured was the fuel for his continued excursions.
He joined the digital age in 2009 and strives to capture nature in all of its forms, and the natural expressions of people as they experience life from day to day. He believes that he was given a gift, and he happily shares that gift with all who want to participate in the journey with him.
He will continue to look for opportunities to make time stand still--and to share those moments with you.
