Lance D. Collins is an attorney in private practice in Maui focusing on public interest and good government law. He also holds a PhD in Philippine Studies from the University of Hawai'i and serves as a trustee with the international Philippine Studies Association. He has previously taught in the Ilokano Language and Literature Program at Mānoa as well as the Legal Clerk Certificate Program at Maui College.His research interests including Philippine and Hawai'i legal history as
well as various aspects of Philippine popular culture. His most recent publications include "Approaching the State: How to Study the Ideas of the Malolos Constitution" (Filipinas Journal, 2020) and "Election
Contests in Hawai'i (Hawai'i Bar Journal, 2021)
