In 2014 Kenneth Tan moved back home to San Jose, CA to help his mom care for his grandmother (“lola” in Tagalog). One morning, Kenneth asked Lola what she wanted to do, and she said, “Something that is for a purpose.” So they tried making artwork. Lola made paintings in watercolor, and Kenneth added drawings based on her stories and memories. Now, together they’re The Lola x Kenneth Collaboration.
