In this episode we talk about Jaimy's growing up experience of what it means to be a Filipino settler residing in the Kingdom of Hawai'i. We briefly have touch upon the difficult journey of being a Filipino who have struggled in creating that identity growing up in Kalihi. For many tuning in, Kalihi is known for being the working class neighborhood in central Honolulu. Children of recent immigrants who grapple with assimilation and poverty.
Jaimy Valerio (he/him), born and raised in Kalihi, Hawai'i. Currently he works as a eight grade history teacher as his day job and at night he is a full time creative director and founder behind his brand AKOSI. He identifies as a second generation.
