Homily given on the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year C) at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Clarendon, VA on Sunday, August 18, 2019 (5:00 pm Vigil Mass).
Mass Readings were as follows:
- Jeremiah 38:4-6, 8-10
- Psalm 40 -- "Lord, come to my aid!"
- Hebrews 12:1-4 -- "Let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus."
- Luke 12:49-53 -- "I have come to set the world on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!"
