Description

"It's not due till Friday," "I'll just get a little gaming out of the way first so I can give it my whole attention," "it's on the list;" there's a lot of excuses you can make to put off a project, especially if you have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. How about instead of that boring work in front of you, take a short break to listen to Stop Podcastinating.

This short limited series takes a holistic look at procrastination, including the causes, the side effects, and some easy-to-try solutions. In the first episode we'll discuss how procrastination effects the brain's executive function, with a special look at how an inability to focus is especially debilitating for people with ADHD.

The second episode will feature an interview on implementable techniques to quickly get back on track with psychologist Dr. Nita Ferjo who specializes in students who are affected by specific learning disability, Dyslexia, and ADHD. In the eventuality that this interview subject is unavailable, the series may instead feature friend of the podcast Dr. Rayne, a PhD in behavioral science, or a member of the Reeg Academic Resource Center at Webster University.

The third episode will feature a soundscape that puts the listener in the shoes of someone who gets a minor distraction and then deals with common symptoms as they walk around various easy excuses--video games, tv, conversations, the fridge--to demonstrate how easy it is to find mundane distractions, and how equally easy it can be to avoid those temptations with the tools learned in the previous episodes.

Instead of blaming yourself and internalizing unnecessary guilt, take an earned break that's technically working with Stop Podcastinating!
