Welcome back to Chakras & Cusswords Podcast. This episode is all about transitioning from nursing burn out to becoming a spiritual mentor.
Bio: Roshni is a heart-led community connector & compassion-driven nurse dedicated to empowering others to integrate into their whole selves. As a Critical Care nurse on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, the emotional & physical fatigue of facing death and fear head continues to be unpacked. She has spent the past year collecting stories from the frontlines to capture the voices of South Asian American healthcare workers mental & spiritual impact of the trauma stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. On IG @SouthAsiansBehindTheMask, the project aims to understand the unbearingly heavy burden to serve as “heroes”, while suffering from loss, combating stress and striving for survival despite a large gap in mental health & emotional support. Outside of her work at the bedside, Roshni works as a Integration coach supporting clients to deepen the connection of mind-body-spirit through life's unexpected and challenging transitions. You can follow her work on IG, TikTok and twitter @FollowTheRoshni.
The focus for healthcare workers/healing:
A year ago, I was selected by SAADA to curate and create a project around South Asian Americans in Healthcare.(SAADA stands for South Asian American Digital Archive. It is a community-based culture change organization ensuring that South Asian Americans are included in the American story: past, present, and future.) Over the course of the year, I did just that! Interviewing 9 incredible "heroes" from the frontlines, working with my incredible artist friend Meghna to create renderings, my amazing musician friend Nimo to source music and along the way, find space for my own story to find a place in history.
It has been an incredibly humbling and encouraging project and one that I hope continues to grow as more Desi-Americans find the courage to share their own truths. I am so excited for you to finally experience this & as always, am so grateful for your support in all of my endeavors.
SHARE:
I have curated a social media handle on instagram to help others share their own stories. If you or anyone you know are a healthcare worker who worked during COVID (or left because of it) I would love to share a short video or write-up with your own reflection. The instagram handle is @Southasiansbehindthemask . DM or email me for more details.
IMMERSE:
I hope you find time to listen to the powerful stories from my incredible interviewees and see double the impact our culture as Desi Americans AND as healthcare workers connects and conflicts with our own personal journeys. Even if you are not South Asian, I hope this glimpse into someone's perspective helps you build your empathy muscle for all of us in the pandemic. Also see the incredible art created by my lovely friend Meghna. Check out my gallery page here: https://www.saada.org/acfp/exhibit/heart-of-a-hero
