On this edition of The Sports King Show, we open discussing the just-announced cancer diagnosis and plan ahead for Washington Football Team Head Coach Ron Rivera. Rivera found a lump in his neck and after visiting with a doctor and reviewing tests with medical personnel he announced that he has cancer and will begin treatments immediately. Rivera spoke about a contingency plan but did not elaborate. We can only assume that it would be a future with Jack Del Rio who is the only coach on staff who has Head Coaching experience. We also talk about Nascar in Richmond and how there will be no fans in the stands for the foreseeable future. We close out the hour with a look at the NBA Playoffs and discuss the bounce-back efforts by both the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers.
In Hour Two we welcome Joe Galat who was a long-time coach in both the NFL and CFL. Joe current President of the AYF (America Youth Football). We discuss his long career as a position coach with both the NY Giants and the Houston Oilers. We learn about the relationship between Ohio State's Head Coach Woody Hayes and Michigans Bo Schembechler and learn as much as the two schools hated each other the two coaches were much more alike than anyone knew. We talk about his coaching and management days in both the NFL and CFL days and his time as President of the American Youth Football Association. We talk about his newly released book "Lesson From The 100 Yard Classroom" now available on Amazon. We close out the show looking at the weekend's sports schedule and the key events to look for.
