Description

On this episode of Not Rocket Science I do a throwback-style case study episode on the emergence of StockX, an online sneaker reselling and buying marketplace, and how combining the sneaker market with the stock market disrupted an industry. I also put on User Experience design hat on and give some design analysis of their iOS app. I find companies like StockX who become an industry leader by optimizing a cultural phenomenon particularly fascinating and was excited to give my take on this one.

I also break down the emerging backlash regarding Amazon's potential HQ moving to Long Island City, Queens and break down why this blowback is essentially NYC taking the New York-iest stance possible & give my perspective, based on enduring the pains of commuting in NYC day-to-day, on whether the move is overall a net positive or not. I also start the show in a fairly Jamaican way in order to drown out the steam noise coming from my old ass radiator at the beginning of the episode, so yea... there's that.
