In self-defense DIVERTING an attack away from being overwhelmed, protecting vital points, and redirecting sheer force and energy is essential.
Additionally, DIVERTING can take the form of escape, dissipation, redirection into a throw, disruption and more. For our discussion today we will discuss its energy DIVERTING characteristics as attacks and defenses.
When an attacker intends to tackle or takedown an opponent a skilled wrestler will DIVERT the force of the tackle by sprawling legs back, exerting pressure on the head, neck and shoulders, and effectively driving the energy of the attacker down to the ground.
In reality the force is merely being DIVERTED. The attacker provides ALL the energy and the defender redirects that energy to the ground. Wrestling mats are padded for a reason, the DIVERTED energy is so powerful, and the would-be attacker is driven down with such force, the DIVERSION many times smashes their head into the mat, and causes a stunned submission as the defender adds insult to injury falling full force on the back of their head.
A throw is similar. In effect, the attacker provides all the energy and BOOM! The would-be attacker sees stars for a week.
In Life-Defense we see many examples of DIVERTING energy in our daily life. Social media comes to mind.
To DIVERT is to turn something from it’s course. What in life is DIVERTING you? Is it Netflix, video games, football, or food? Whatever your chosen vise that takes you off your stated course of success and happiness is just that shinny object DIVERSION once again!.
The reality is that very little force moves huge objects, objectives and wins major battles. How? DIVERSION!
In my life, in the past, it took very little to DIVERT me from the most important tasks. A good movie, chocolate cake or a pretty smile and swoosh, I found myself flat on my back, with a big old headache and way off course.
The opposite is also true. It takes very little effort to DIVERT people from what’s important in life and in business, and those DIVERSIONS change the course of history. Consider that media is by definition a DIVERSION, mostly not reporting, designed to redirect our course.
DIVERT or be DIVERTED it all ends up the same. Understanding DIVERSION is the key. On a different path, trajectory or on your back? You choose!
