The attacker circled round and round looking for an opportunity to pounce and drive fists into the defenders head. Then all at once the defender allows him into his guard, and just when the attacker thinks he will dominate the conflict, he is completely controlled and becomes harmless.
How? The attacker misunderstood the LEVERAGE that the ground is, while the defender understood the LEVERAGE afforded by position, and vital-points of contact.
In life how often do we find ourselves on our back thinking we have lost, and submit all too quickly? This position in the world of self-defense is called the guard, and ground fighters sometimes prefer it to standing toe to toe.
The distinct advantage is legendary and yet most people prefer standing toe to toe in battles full of jumping kicks and showy spinning techniques. Especially in the movies. We do not.
Think of the surprise one might have when they literally “jump into the arms of a controlling

There are always people you can count on when you are that person, and there is always enough money when enough people coordinate their power together. All these and hundreds more are examples of LEVERAGE!
