Description

The black van pulled up to the middle school slowly, passing the big crowds of tweens, and was leaving the far edge of school property when the door opened, and a man jumped out. Thirteen year old Tina was walking alone excited, and a little distracted because today was her birthday, and the girls now running to catch their buses would be at her home in an hour for her party.

She didn’t notice the man as he ran quietly up behind her until it was too late. All of a sudden her world was turned upside down as she felt herself being lifted, arms pinned to her sides, his arms wrapped fully around her waist tightly.

Her screams caught the attention of a few students within her vicinity, however, the van was only 20 or 30 feet away, and their attempts to get the attention of anyone that could help would be wasted as she would inevitably be thrown in through the big door, as her abductors sped off. This would have been fatal for our birthday girl. Luckily her second reaction which followed, had a far different effect…

After her initial, reactionary scream Tina did not give up, not only did she scream even louder, attracting the attention of a bus driver, and yard duty teacher, STRESSING her assailants eardrums, she wrapped her legs in a vice grip around one of his, legs, and shooting her arms up further STRESSING his ability to hold her and walk. Although he was bigger, and stronger Tina’s abduction training in her HAPKIDO class was paying off big time.

The slow progress, the screams, and his ability to even hold her as she slowly slipped through his arms was too much. All at once he dropped her and ran, diving into the van as the burly buss driver caught up to Tina, and the van sped away.

STRESS gets a bad wrap, and is seen as negative. When in life STRESSING something, someone, or some situation may be our path to freedom. When a project, or person is “dragging you away,” to a place you don’t want to go, STRESS becomes a way of slowing actions down, making them think twice, or just abandoning their efforts and choosing a different approach. When you find yourself loosing freedom, STRESS can be your friend. STRESS…
