On this episode of SCP, I am joined by my husband, Joshua Curteman. He's a Navy Veteran, lover of all things outdoors especially fishing & bow hunting, he's an incredible father, a hard & excellent worker, very disciplined and he's my best friend. In this rare moment in time that he's home, I ask him to share about purpose. What's rare about this is on December 1st, 2019, he was unemployed and he's been off ever since the recording until now as I type up this description on 8/31/2020. I don't know what it was, but I had enough discernment to know that God was up to something from my unemployment in 2018 and now his in 2019. I had a hunch that just like myself, my husband would struggle with knowing his purpose outside of his job. It's cultural to be defined by what we do and the amount of money we have in the bank, and now this it's gone. Who are you outside of work? Without titles or "doing something" - what is your purpose? So, after randomly finding an extra copy of "The Purposed Drive Life" by Rick Warren at a thrift store for $2, we both invested 40 days to search that out. That does not make going through the last 10 months living on our savings easy. It does, however, keep our focus that "we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God's perfect plan (who is deeply concerned for us) of bringing good into our lives, for we are His lover who have been called to fulfill His designed purpose." Romans 8:28 *Side note: Josh was not brought up in church so having him talk about God in this manner is still new for me and is a testimony of God's faithfulness to answer my prayers. I hope it encourages women out there to keep praying for your husbands heart to know God and follow Him. I specifically prayed for 10 year, "God encounter Josh" and I believe this is the encounter I have been praying for. Don't give up wives and spouses. Single women, pray that your husband knows the Lord and encounters him now in Jesus name.

He's currently still looking for a job in the oil and gas industry, and if it were not for applying the Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover into our lives 2 years ago we might have had a different story. I know God will provide for him a job soon as He is faithful! Thank you for listening.
