In 1995 I was asked to prepare a five part series called "The Cost of Violence". I recently discovered three of the "air checks"--the actual segments that were shown to the Philadelphia audience. In one of the stories I featured a gunshot victim named Ilene Myers. She is just one of hundreds of people I had the honor of meeting and interviewing for hundreds of stories over the years. Many of the stories that I discover are so old that decades have gone by since I have seen them, but I remember the random nature of how this woman was shot and the courage that she displayed at the time of the interview. This is her story. Her story is one of great courage and optimism.
