Organizations to Support during Pride (and year-round!):
- GLITS: "GLITS creates holistic solutions to the health and housing crises faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals experiencing systemic discrimination at intersecting oppressions impacted by racism and criminalization, through a lens of harm reduction, human rights principles, social justice and community empowerment, imbued with a commitment to empowerment and pride in finding solutions in our own community. Centering Black trans leadership, GLITS is committed to building future community leaders and is grounded in a multi-generational approach to growth. GLITS uses advocacy as well as press and media appearances to educate the public about health, wellness and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people in our society and to address the stigmatization and criminalization."
- Black Trans Femmes in the Arts Collective (BFTA): "The BTFA Collective aims to create an empowering community among Black trans and non-binary femmes and to address the systemic barriers that support their erasure. Founded in 2019 by Jordyn Jay, BTFA has created an uplifting, joyous space for Black trans women and non-binary femme artists to showcase their talent, advance their artistic careers, and explore the possibilities of their own creativity."
- SisTers PGH: "SisTers PGH's community center is a safe, brave, drop-in space for TGNC folk in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. In addition to a community hangout, we can provide access to clothing, toiletries, food, and computers, as well as referrals to vetted trans competent service providers, and intakes to our other programs as needed."
- Southern Fried Queer Pride: "Southern Fried Queer Pride (SFQP) was born out of a lack of space for Black and brown queer folks to build community, a lack of queer art, and in opposition of the established narrative of Southern queers. The South is home to the country’s largest population of LGBTQIQAP2+ individuals, yet we’re confined to a narrative of stigma, statistics, and struggle. SFQP fights that notion, and is aiding in uplifting a honest narrative of resilience, rich history, and vibrance."
