Description

We scored big with this one! Maurice Henderson (also known by his pen name, Bartholomew Jones) joins us to talk about the recent success of his coffee company called cxffeeblack - based out of Memphis, TN. His company works to tell the story of coffee as an African discovery - one that was colonized and brought to the Americas... much like the African diaspora. The timelines of coffee colonization and the African diaspora are intertwined, and Bartholomew strives to tell that story to the world, community by community, and to Make Cxffee Black Again.

From their website: "the cxffee plant was stolen from Africa in 1616 by two Dutch spies. three years later the first stolen black bodies landed in Jamestown Virginia. we are finding our liberation as a people, and now we are liberating our birthright. this cxffee is diaspora history, and it, like us, was created to be taken black. no sugar. no cream. the way God intended"
