POEMS:
"Out of order" - Josh Lynott
I jumped in the shower before I ran today,
And had dessert before dinner.
My umbrella stood up after the sun went down,
And I tanned under the evening streetlights.
I tried to draw lines in the sky before the stars came out
And crossed the road before the lights went green.
Life isn’t always ordered how we think it should be,
maybe it’s not worth wishing to have it any other way.
Life’s most precious moments wouldn’t occur,
maybe we’d miss the moments that caused a stir.
It’s the in-between moments that matter the most,
An absolute must to cherish those we hold close.
It’s worth taking a risk to feel excited,
Because a life lived in order isn’t what I decided.
POEM TWO
Timekeeper by Mitch Albom, read by Justin Stals
“Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. an alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.”
