My mother and father were both very kind, loving and wise people. Yes, I recognize what a gift I had with both of them and as I got older, and I was sure to let them know how much I appreciated them.
My mother, Annie Lorene Jackson, was an elementary school teacher from a Pelham, GA, population of about 3500 now, I imagine it was smaller when she lived there. She was the first person in her family to attend college. She graduated Albany State College/University in1957 and married my father, Moses Cornelius Faison who was working as a librarian in Albany. I have had a love affair with words since the womb I suspect. lol. As you can see, education was a cornerstone in my life and continues to be foundational to who I am as a person.
My mother became will in 2011 and she lived with me from 2012 - 2015. I got married in 2014, for the first and only time. :) While my mother lived with me/us for those three years she would encourage me to pat
myself on the back...A LOT. Even as a young child I tended to be very serious and focused. Getting married and having my mom and her dog, Lacee, move in with us was a very different lifestyle from it being just me as a single person. I still hear her voice saying, "Baby, pat yourself on the back." Those words make me smile.
So I'm patting myself on the back today for being consistent with my journaling and sending out this newsletter/audio post/podcast. It's 37 days into 2023 and I have journaled daily. Yes!
